Thugs believed to be APC supporters stormed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre in the Ikotun area of Alimosho local government on Sunday.
One of the collation officers, Funmi, was seen pleading for help in a now-viral video shared by popular Twitter influencer Rinu Oduala, alleging that APC thugs were beating officials at INEC's collation centre in Ikotun.
"This is Funmi from Alimosho, we are at Ikotun local government and APC people have started beating us here, they have beaten most of our people, they are injuring us here," the lady in the viral video said.
The latest attack comes as reports of violence from various polling stations across the country continue to erode the credibility of the February 25 general election.
There were reports of violence in some polling stations across Lagos on Saturday. According to Peoples Gazette, a swarm of ruling APC supporters attacked a reporter while she was on election duty in Lagos.
The reporter, who covers the metro beat, had her phone briefly confiscated shortly after taking photographs, and she was arrested.
The reporter, who covers the metro beat, had her phone briefly confiscated after taking photographs and filming in the Orile-Oshodi ward, where rampaging thugs were terrorising polling stations in Oshodi, the city's central suburb.
However, The Peoples Gazette efforts to contact the police for more information on the attack were futile because the Lagos State Police Command's spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, was not responding to calls and text messages at the time of filing this report.
