Rotaract District 9111 Unveils 2025-2026 Projects: Empowerment, Engagement, and Expansion

Rotaract District 9111 has announced an ambitious lineup of projects and activities for the 2025-2026 Rotary year, focusing on Empowerment, Engagement, and Expansion. 


The District Rotaract Representative (DRR), Rtr. Senu Awesu unveiled the strategic plans during a press briefing at the Rotary head office in Ikeja, Lagos.  


Awesu, who assumed office on July 1, 2025, outlined key goals, including a 30% increase in membership, 90% retention rate, and the chartering of five new Rotaract clubs (three community-based and two institutional). The district also aims to raise $12,000 for the Rotary Foundation through innovative fundraising initiatives.

"Our focus is on sustainable club growth, impactful service projects, and stronger Rotary-Rotaract collaboration," Awesu stated. "We want to ensure that every Rotaractor feels valued while making a tangible difference in our communities."


Strategic Membership and Club Development

To drive membership growth, the district will implement value-driven recruitment strategies, targeting youth organizations such as the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN). Retention efforts will include recognition programs, leadership development, and personal engagement initiatives**. Expansion plans also involve establishing new clubs in educational institutions and underserved rural areas.  


Service Projects: Environment, Education, Health, and Community Development


Rotaract District 9111 has lined up high-impact service projects across key areas:  

- Environment: Tree planting, cleanup campaigns, and green initiatives in partnership with Green Janitors.  


- Education: Scholarships, provision of learning materials, and innovation programs in select schools in Lagos and Ogun States.  


- Health: Free medical check-ups and polio vaccination drives.  


- Youth Empowerment: Vocational training and donations to Rotaractors and indigent youths.  


- Community Development: Provision of basic amenities and a three-day outreach program in Itele community, extending to neighboring areas.


Strengthening Public Image and Engagement


The district has already launched a new website to enhance visibility and will implement a dynamic social media strategy to double engagement. A revamped newsletter, "Rota-Youth in Action," will keep members and partners informed.  


Youth Summit and Rotaract Festival to Foster Collaboration


A major highlight of the year will be a Youth Summit, bringing together 1,000 young people from Lagos and Ogun States in collaboration with Interact Clubs, Junior Chamber International (JCI), and other youth organizations. Additionally, the Rota Festival a sports and recreation event will unite Rotaractors and community members in a celebration of talent and camaraderie.  


Leadership Perspectives: Unity and Service at the Forefront


Rtr. Olorunju David (DRR-Elect) emphasized Rotaract’s role as the youth arm of Rotary, stating, "We are an NGO that partners with government agencies to address societal needs. We call for collaborations to amplify our impact."


Rtr. Waheed Oluwaseun highlighted the focus on member retention, saying, "This year, we’re looking inward ensuring our programs benefit Rotaractors directly."


Rtr. Onososen Emmanuel (District Admin) reinforced the importance of friendship and service, while Rtr. January Onwuka (We Care Chair) stressed member welfare, stating, "People thrive when valued. This year, we’ll show Rotaractors they are seen, loved, and appreciated."


With these initiatives, Rotaract District 9111 is poised to make 2025-2026 a landmark year uniting young leaders for meaningful change. Stakeholders, partners, and prospective members are encouraged to join the movement and contribute to a brighter future.
