UNICEF’s Youth Marketplace Agency (YOMA) has selected Badagry’s Ajande Pascal Viweavo and Jacob Francis Waniyon as ambassadors. The duo will join a select group of 75 Lagos State Youth Parliamentarians and other young changemakers to champion skills development, climate action, and youth engagement across Nigeria and Africa.
Their appointment underscores UNICEF’s commitment to fostering youth-led initiatives that drive sustainable development.
Ajande Pascal Viweavo expressed enthusiasm about the new role, stating, “As UNICEF YOMA ambassadors, we’ll bring opportunities, skills development, and unleash potentials for Lagos and Badagry youth.”
He emphasized the platform’s potential to empower young people through innovation, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy.
Meanwhile, Jacob Francis Waniyon highlighted YOMA’s continental reach, noting that over 400 Nigerians are among 500 active African users benefiting from partner programs like UNICEF’s initiatives.
As ambassadors, Viweavo and Waniyon will mobilize Badagry’s youth, promoting YOMA’s digital opportunities, climate action campaigns, and skills-building programs.
Their mandate includes collaborating with stakeholders to ensure widespread awareness of YOMA’s benefits from online learning to employment pathways. Waniyon added,
“We’re expected to engage every relevant stakeholder to highlight the importance of the YOMA platform.” This aligns with UNICEF’s goal of equipping young Africans with tools for socio-economic growth.
