Hunpe revealed that while Badagry has long been celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and tourist attractions, its full economic potential remains untapped. “We’ve always talked about tourism, but this time, by the grace of God, we will unlock it,” he declared.
The chairman outlined plans to leverage tourism to benefit not just the government but also the local population, particularly youths and women who stand to gain employment and increased trade opportunities.
“If we tap into tourism properly, it will help the state and federal governments, and by extension, our people,” Hunpe stated. “Badagry will be open to the world economy our youths will get jobs, our women will make sales, and our economy will improve.”
Beyond tourism, Hunpe’s administration aims to make significant strides in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and youth development. He assured residents that his policies would be people-centric, urging them to hold him accountable while acknowledging that tough decisions may sometimes be necessary for progress.
“If I or my staff step on toes, know that it’s for the greater good,” he appealed. “My door is always open for dialogue.”

Political analysts said with a clear roadmap focusing on tourism, infrastructure, and inclusive governance, Hunpe’s administration signals a new dawn for Badagry. If successful, the initiative could position the historic town as a top destination for investors, tourists, and development stakeholders ultimately rewriting its economic narrative.
