Lagos Gov. Sanwo-Olu Celebrates Mandela Washington Fellow Ashade Abdulsalam’s Leadership Milestone

Ashade Abdulsalam, a 2024 Mandela Washington Fellow under the prestigious Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), has presented his Certificate of Completion to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, marking a pivotal moment in his leadership journey.  

Abdulsalam, who excelled in the Leadership in Public Management track at Boise State University, Idaho, USA, described the fellowship as a “transformative experience” that has equipped him with critical skills for public service and youth development.  

During the meeting, Abdulsalam shared key insights from his six-week U.S. leadership program with Governor Sanwo-Olu, who offered encouraging words and renewed hope for impactful governance. 

“The governor’s support has reinforced my commitment to driving positive change in Lagos,” Abdulsalam stated.  

He also extended gratitude to Lagos Commissioner for Youth & Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende (RAK), for facilitating the engagement and championing youth empowerment initiatives across the state.  

The Mandela Washington Fellowship, the U.S. government’s flagship YALI program, empowers Africa’s brightest young leaders through academic training, leadership development, and global networking opportunities.
