Manoah Nunayon Kikekon a passionate Badagry Social Advocate, calls on Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure the timely completion of the Badagry West electrification project, highlighting the alarming number of abandoned projects in the local government.

In a recent interview with PUNCH, Kikekon praised the governor for initiating the project but stressed the critical need for its completion.

“We commend Governor Sanwo-Olu for starting this project, but completion is what matters. Badagry has too many abandoned projects this must not become another one,” he said.

Badagry West Stakeholders Meets Ahead Electricity Restoration After 5-Year Blackout

The first phase of the electrification project is underway, with drilling for iron poles and overhead cables replacing the previous underground wiring, which was prone to vandalism.

After years of darkness, electricity is finally becoming a reality. This project will revitalize the economy of over 50 communities,” Kikekon added.

The Lagos State Government’s intervention follows a PUNCH report orchestrated by Kikekon exposing the Five-year power outage in Kweme and other Badagry West communities, including Akoko, Asipa, Irosu, and Pashi, up to Seme-Border. Residents had resorted to charging phones in neighboring Benin Republic due to the prolonged blackout.

Two months after the report, Hon. Solomon Bonu, Badagry Constituency 1 representative, confirmed the project’s commencement via Facebook: “Badagry West Electricity Restoration Stage 1 (soil test) completed. Let there be light”

Kikekon also acknowledged the efforts Hon. Bonu Solomon, and the youths in the area, Aladeotan David, Viyon Awhanse, and Basit Badaru, whose relentless advocacy played a key role in securing the project.

“These young men fought tirelessly for Badagry West. Their efforts deserve recognition,” he stated.
