Hon. Bonu Solomon, the Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Badagry Constituency 1 has said the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is about to establish an Energy City in Badagry West LCDA, a move aimed at boosting power generation and economic growth in the region.
This was revealed by during a critical stakeholders' meeting on restoring electricity to the area after five years of blackout.
The meeting, held on Tuesday at Suntan Beach Hall, brought together key figures including the political officeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, and religious heads to discuss solutions to the prolonged power outage.
Hon. Bonu Solomon disclosed that Governor Sanwo-Olu is already working on siting the Energy City in Badagry West, a project expected to generate electricity for commercial and developmental purposes.
"We are coming up with an Energy City in Badagry West, but we’ve discovered that some people are already selling lands in the proposed area. If you know you’re occupying land designated for the Energy City, please don’t sell it," Bonu cautioned.
He explained that the facility would serve as a power generation hub, with a portion of its output dedicated to Badagry West’s development. He urged community leaders to liaise with the traditional ruler to identify the exact location of the project.
Adding that the residents should pray for the governor and this part of the Governor's agenda not to leave any part of the State behind.
