The All Progressives Congress (APC) Mandate Group in Badagry has been directed by top party leaders in Lagos State to rally support for Hon. Suru Avoseh as the next chairman of Badagry Local Government.

This was disclosed by Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs and Coordinator of the APC Mandate Group in Badagry, during a political rally held on Thursday.

In his address, Layode revealed that APC leaders at the state level had instructed him, along with other key stakeholders, to mobilize support for Avoseh’s chairmanship bid.

"Top Mandate Group leaders of APC from the state have called me, the chairman, and Hon. Bonu Solomon, directing us to promote and work for Avoseh," Layode stated. "We are not here to hand over a flag to him; they have already told us to unite and support him. This is not just about this election—if we love President Tinubu, Nigeria, and the development of Badagry, we must work together as the party leaders have instructed."

Layode emphasized that while other aspirants had the right to obtain nomination forms, the party’s decision was based on the need for continuity and development in Badagry.

"The leaders said when they look at Badagry, the good work we did for Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu in 2023 must be multiplied. They believe the best person for this role is Hon. Suru Avoseh," he added.

He assured residents of his capacity to build on the achievements of the outgoing chairman, Hon. Olusegun Onilude, and called for unity among party members.

Also speaking at the rally, Hon. Bonu Solomon urged Badagry leaders and residents to back Avoseh’s candidacy for the progress of the local government.

"We must all come together to support Avoseh as the next chairman of Badagry for continued development," Solomon pleaded.

With the party’s endorsement, Avoseh’s campaign is expected to gain momentum as APC stakeholders work to consolidate support ahead of the local government elections.

Layode concluded with an appeal: "Badagry people should give me full support to become their next council chairman. Party executives must join hands with me to implement the directives given by our leaders."

As the race heats up, all eyes remain on Badagry to see if the APC’s unity call will translate into victory at the polls.
