Abdulsalam Abiodun Ashade, a seasoned accountant, environmental advocate, and youth development expert, has officially declared his candidacy for the Executive Chairmanship of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Badagry, Lagos State.
The declaration, made on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Iworo Town, Badagry, marks the beginning of a transformative campaign anchored on his "SCHOOL Agenda" a six-pillar blueprint for sustainable development.
Ashade’s agenda focuses on Security, Community Development, Health & Environment, Organized Infrastructure, Open Governance, and Learning (Education & Technology). Here’s a breakdown of his key promises:
Enhanced Security – Strengthening partnerships with security agencies like the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police to ensure safer communities.
Community-Driven Projects – The "One Community Per Month" initiative will deliver 48 projects across five wards in four years.
Healthcare & Environmental Sustainability – Expanding Primary Health Centres (PHCs) from 9 to 12, introducing 24/7 operations, and launching free medical outreaches. Additionally, recycling hubs and improved drainage systems will combat flooding.
Infrastructure Development – Constructing and rehabilitating roads, schools, IT hubs, and recreational centers.
Transparent Governance – An Open Door Policy to ensure accountability and citizen engagement.
Education & Youth Empowerment – Expanding skill acquisition programs and fostering tech-driven learning opportunities.
Ashade emphasized his "Leave No One Behind (LNOB)" policy, pledging 40% representation for women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in all programs. His administration will prioritize equitable access to opportunities, ensuring marginalized groups are fully integrated into governance.
With experience as an Environmental Ambassador, Mandela Washington Fellow (2024), and Executive Director of Green Janitors Sustainable Initiative, Ashade brings a wealth of expertise in community development and climate advocacy. His leadership roles in youth empowerment and waste management underscore his readiness for the task ahead.
The SCHOOL Agenda aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative, ensuring Olorunda LCDA contributes meaningfully to Lagos State’s broader growth objectives.
Ashade called on residents, stakeholders, and development partners to join hands in building a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable Olorunda LCDA.
"Together, we can create a future where every voice is heard, and no one is left behind," he declared.
