The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has officially declared the winners of its local government chairmanship primaries, held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the party secretariat in Ikeja.
The exercise saw fierce contests in some councils, while others produced clear winners with overwhelming votes.
For Ifako-Ijaye LGA, Usman Hamzat emerged victorious with 25 votes, defeating other aspirants. Meanwhile, Olalekan Awoyokun secured the ticket for Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA with 26 votes. Ojokoro LCDA witnessed Oluyemisi Rosiji winning with 21 votes, while her closest rival, Mobalaji Sanusi, managed only two votes.
Kosofe LGA saw Moyosore Ogunlewe dominating the polls, while Olufemi Okeowo clinched the ticket in Ifelodun LCDA. In Ajeromi-Ifelodun LCDA, Lakan Akindipe won with 20 votes.
Some candidates enjoyed sweeping victories, such as Bamidele Sulaimon Yusuf of Surulere LGA, who was the sole aspirant and secured 26 votes. Similarly, Ogidan Azeez (Coker-Aguda LCDA) and Taiwo Oyekan (Lagos Island LGA) both won with 25 votes each.
However, a few races were tightly contested. In Ejigbo LCDA, Taorid Taiwo won with 16 votes, defeating Ade Orisunmade (5 votes) and Omowunmi Abeeb (4 votes).
Eti-Osa LGA had Samsudeen Agunbiade winning with 17 votes against Ogundare Campus (5 votes) and Balogun Rasheed (1 vote).

With the primaries concluded, the APC is set to present its candidates for the upcoming local government elections in Lagos. Analysts predict a strong showing for the ruling party, given its dominance in previous polls.
