EXCLUSIVE: Tension in Badagry APC as Forged Councillorship List Sparks Outrage

 By: Manoah kikekon

Tension is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Badagry as residents and party members reject a controversial "secret councillorship list" allegedly orchestrated by allies of Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju Layode, Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs.

The disputed list, which surfaced days after the official Badagry Local Government list was released, claims only four slots out of the 10 councillorship positions, raising suspicions of an underhanded political maneuver.

Official List signed by Badagry Local Government chairman

A letter obtained by News Peddlers reveals that a faction within the APC, linked to Hon. Layode, submitted a separate list containing four handpicked candidates, contrary to the 10 names endorsed by the party’s local leadership.

The letter reads: "Sequel to the meeting with the State Chairman yesterday and the commissioner’s group’s commitment to peaceful initiatives, we have resolved to nominate the underlisted councillorship aspirants for harmonious co-existence. We resolved to pick only four slots out of the 10 councillorship seats in Badagry LGA."

Named beneficiaries include:

Abdulhadi Badirudeen (Ward A)

Hunton Gbetoyon George (Ward H)

Hunga Afolabi Gbemabe (Ward I)

Okejoba Modupe Senami (Ward J)

The document was reportedly signed by Hon. Layode, Barr. Sunday Kappo, Mr. Tajudeen Anifowoshe, Akin Ogunlana, and Akeem Adeyemi.

However, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka, one of the purported signatories, has vehemently denied involvement. A source close to him revealed:  "Mr. Saka was never consulted, and his signature was forged. He is preparing legal action against those behind this fraudulent list."

A high-ranking Badagry indigene also expressed shock:  "How did this group obtain the party’s official letterhead? If anyone can fabricate documents, what stops others from doing the same?"

Critics note that the Local Government Party Chairman’s signature is missing, further discrediting the list.

A concerned citizen told News Peddlers: "Their plan is clear—slip these four names into the final list. By the time the official announcement is made, the fraudulent names may have replaced the legitimate ones."

The development has sparked fears of impending party division, with many calling for urgent intervention from APC state leadership.
