In a grand ceremony marking his birthday, His Royal Majesty (HRM) King Aholu Agano Toniyon I, the Aholu of Ajara Agamathen Kingdom, Badagry, conferred chieftaincy titles on two distinguished journalists, Mr. Zosu Solomon, CEO of Badagry Parrot News, and Mrs. Pentho Francis, a revered presenter of Radio Nigeria, in recognition of their relentless efforts in promoting Badagry’s cultural and socio-economic development.
The monarch, who recently celebrated his 62nd birthday, expressed his joy over the recognition of the two journalists, both indigenes of Badagry, for their years of dedicated service to the community.
“I’m so glad because today is my birthday, and at the same time, I’m honoring these two journalists who are also indigenes (sons of the soil of Badagry) for promoting Badagry for a long time. That’s why I’m happy for them,” the King stated .
When asked by the press about his message to Badagrians, King Aholu reiterated his earlier appeal for patience and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He highlighted critical infrastructural challenges in the region, particularly the long-delayed Toun-Ikpokia bridge, which has hindered transportation and economic activities for over four years.
“If you want to take your vehicle, instead of a five-minute drive, you spend up to seven hours before reaching your destination,” he lamented. The monarch revealed that he had engaged with the President, Governor, and other high-ranking officials to address these issues, expressing optimism over the approval of the Badagry Expressway and the need for a South-West Development Commission to ensure equitable regional development .
