Badagry, Lagos – Hon. Olanrewaju Layode (popularly known as OIL), Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, has pledged to renovate the Badagry football pitch ahead of future competitions.
The announcement came during the thrilling finale of the 2025 Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode Football Tournament held at St. Thomas Primary School, Badagry.
The competition featured 34 clubs, with All Stars FC (Badagry) and Legend FC battling in an intense final. Addressing the crowd, Hon. Layode praised the players' skills, stating:
"What you’ve displayed today is pure talent. Football scouts here will identify standout players for career support. I’ll also take it upon myself to upgrade this pitch, ensuring a standard facility for future events."
Commentator Mr. Adeshino Semiu urged authorities to prioritize building a standard Stadium at the Badagry Grammar School field which is—the division’s proposed site—over school owned grounds.
As excitement builds for next year’s tournament, stakeholders await Hon. OIL’s promised improvements to boost grassroots football in Badagry.
