Abuja, Nigeria – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed the newly appointed interim management committee of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Golf Club to begin work immediately.
The move aims to resolve recent internal challenges and restore efficiency to the prestigious club.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, the committee will be chaired by Peter Deshi, with Yomi Oyelola serving as secretary.
Other members include Otunba Elegbeleye, Nanwor Mamven, Ekanem Ekwueme, Arabi Bello, Lawan Aboki, Okey Nnaedozie, Fred Otobo, and Julius Fadairo.
The committee will operate under the supervision of the club’s Board of Trustees, led by Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, President of the Court of Appeal.
Wike reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to maintaining order at the IBB Golf Club, emphasizing that the facility remains the property of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
This decisive action follows recent disputes within the club, signaling the government's resolve to uphold standards at one of Abuja’s premier recreational destinations.
