A retired police officer, Charles Atideka, and an accomplice, Bright, have allegedly murdered three people, including Muji Onilude, the elder brother of Badagry Local Government Chairman, in a brutal overnight attack.

The incident occurred around 2am on Tuesday in Yovoyan community, Badagry West LCDA, Lagos State. The gunmen reportedly killed:  Richard Atideka (Personal Assistant to the Baale of Yovoyan), Latevi Atideka (Wife of David Atideka) and Muji Onilude (Resident of a neighboring community).

According to reports, the assailants were targeting David Atideka, who had momentarily left his house to use the toilet. Upon returning, he saw two armed men searching his home.

"I hid near the compound and watched as they shot my wife," David recounted. "Before I could alert my brother, they had already entered his house and killed him too. I recognized one of them—my brother, retired police officer Charles Atideka."

Meanwhile, Yusuf Onilude, son of the third victim, Muji Onilude, shared his harrowing experience

"I was asleep when my father came to my room around 2 AM. Minutes later, I heard gunshots. I rushed out and saw a man fleeing. He fired warning shots and escaped—only for me to find my father dead."

Sources reveal that Charles Atideka had been embroiled in a land dispute with his brothers, David and Richard. The case had gone to court, with Charles arrested and later released on bail. The final judgment was scheduled for Thursday —just two days after the killings.

James Yovoyan, representing the community chief, called on the Federal Government to ensure the perpetrators face the law.

Lorence Atideka, the family head, expressed deep grief, urging authorities to arrest all involved.

The Nigerian Police have moved the victims' bodies to Badagry General Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue.

This tragic incident has shaken the peaceful community, raising concerns over family disputes escalating into violence. Authorities are under pressure to deliver swift justice.
