The Kogi State Government has called on security agencies to hold Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) accountable should any violence erupt in the state following her controversial homecoming rally.

In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, Kingsley Fanwo, the state’s Commissioner for Information, accused the senator of deliberately violating the government’s ban on political gatherings, imposed to prevent security breaches.

"She should be held responsible for her blatant attempts to incite violence and cause unnecessary tension," Fanwo declared.

He further alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker had "plans to use her visit to stir trouble and violence in Kogi Central Senatorial District."

Despite the state government’s prohibition on rallies, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan received a massive welcome from supporters in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area (LGA).

As early as 8 a.m., crowds from the five LGAs in Kogi Central thronged the venue, with live music and celebrations preceding her arrival. The senator made a dramatic entrance in a white helicopter, further electrifying her jubilant supporters.

Fanwo insisted that the senator’s actions were reckless, stating:

"She deliberately violated the state government’s ban on political gatherings, which was put in place to prevent security breaches. Instead of respecting the law, she chose to incite chaos, disregarding the safety and stability of Kogi State."

The commissioner’s statement raises concerns about escalating political tensions in the North Central state, with security agencies now under pressure to respond.
