MARYLAND, LAGOS – In a ceremony celebrating educational excellence and media impact, Oluwaseun Asogba, the renowned Ogu-language presenter at Radio Lagos 107.5 FM, and Governor's Office correspondent, was honored with the prestigious "Outstanding Media Contributions and Partnership Award" by Lagos State Government's Education District II.
The event, held in Maryland, Lagos, brought together educators, media professionals, and government officials to acknowledge those making significant contributions to education and community development.
Asogba, who previously served as Lagos State House of Assembly correspondent for Eko FM, received the award for his exceptional work in amplifying educational initiatives.
"With humility, I dedicate this accomplishment to God Almighty, whose grace has brought purpose and fruitfulness to my endeavors," Asogba stated emotionally during his acceptance speech.
The ceremony took a nostalgic turn when Asogba reunited with his former secondary school teacher, Mr. Ogun R.S., adding a deeply personal dimension to the professional recognition. The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Anike Adekanye, Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District II, who emphasized the importance of media in educational advancement.
During her address, Mrs. Adekanye delivered a powerful message to public servants:
"Teachers, students, and all public servants must uphold the highest standards of unity and professionalism as ambassadors of Lagos State. Our collective efforts are crucial in realizing Governor Sanwo-Olu's developmental agenda."
The ceremony also served as a farewell event for Adekanye, who is preparing to retire from public service after decades of contribution to education. In a generous gesture, she donated office equipment and educational materials to teachers, while expressing profound gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for their consistent support of educators.
"I urge all award recipients to remain committed to their duties and continue praying for the success of this administration," Adekanye advised, highlighting the spiritual dimension she believes underpins effective public service.
Asogba's award particularly highlighted his role in: Promoting the achievements of Education District II, Supporting Governor Sanwo-Olu's THEMES Plus Agenda through media, Bridging communication gaps through his multilingual broadcasting skills
The event also honored numerous other educators and stakeholders who have made exceptional contributions to Lagos State's educational sector, reinforcing the government's commitment to recognizing excellence in public service.
