Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has announced a ban on public preaching in open spaces, including streets and markets, citing concerns over noise pollution and public disturbance.

Speaking in a viral video on social media, Soludo emphasized that preachers should conduct their activities within churches rather than disrupting public spaces. He warned that anyone caught violating the state’s noise pollution regulations would face a fine of N500,000.

“If you want to preach, go to your church. You cannot take over marketplaces and disturb everyone,” he stated. The governor also reiterated the state’s commitment to cracking down on unauthorized religious activities in public areas, including the use of loudspeakers in markets.

This move aligns with Anambra’s broader efforts to regulate noise pollution and maintain order in public spaces.
