Hon. Seyi Sowunmi and Dr. Dayo Ekong |
The Leadership of Labour Party, Lagos State, has condemned and described the stakeholders meeting organised by Hon. Seyi Sowunmi, the House of Representatives Member representing Ojo Federal Constituency, as illegal. As he erroneously claimed to be a member of a nonexistent National Caretaker Committee of Labour Party.
The disclaimer was signed by Dr. Dayo Ekong, Chairman, Lagos Labour Party, and Mr. Sam Okpala, Secretary, Lagos State Labour Party, and made available to News Peddlers on Thursday.
The Disclaimer reads: Labour Party Lagos State, by this notice, informs our numerous members and supporters across Lagos State to take note of the following points.
1) This purported illegal stakeholders meeting scheduled for Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Regency Hall Alausa Ikeja by 2pm did not emanate from the authentic Leadership of the Labour Party in Lagos State and should therefore be ignored, boycotted, and disregarded by all genuine members and supporters of Labour Party, Lagos State.
2) Hon. Seyi Sowunmi, who signed off the notice as the "convener," remains a suspended member of the party, having been suspended from the party by his ward and Local Government Area for his numerous anti party activities in the party.
3) It is equally comtemptuous for Hon. Seyi Sowunmi to falsely claim to be a member of the nonexistent and illegal National Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party in violation of the ruling of Abuja High Court that has settled the leadership crises in Labour Party in favour of Barr. Julius Abure led NEC and NWC, which was delivered on the 8th day of October 2024 by Hon. Justice Emeka Nwite.
4) Hon. Seyi Sowunmi is hereby warned and ordered to pull down this notice of his illegal Stakeholders Meeting of Labour Party Lagos State from all social media platforms where he, his cohorts have posted them and to immediately call off the purported meeting. Failing to do so, the leadership of Labour Party in Lagos State will use all legal means to make Hon. Seyi Sowunmi pay for his blatant disobedience to a valid court ruling or judgement.
5) The general public is to take note that various security agencies have been put on notice to save our democracy and stop these dissidents in the likes of Hon. Seyi Sowunmi and his cohorts that are being used to destabilise our great party.
This rascality and lawlessness can no longer be tolerated in Labour Party. Seyi Sowunmi "MUST" be stopped.Enough is enough!
6) We urge all our loyal party members to continue to support the authentic leadership of our great party under the able leadership of Dr. (Pst) Mrs. Dayo Ekong and our indefatigable National Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure. The "storm" has settled, and water has found its level.
God bless Labour Party!
God bless Nigeria!
