PLACE Africa Network condemns activities of land grabbers in Gbanko, Badagry

Peace and Liberation in Africa through Change and Engagement (PLACE) Network condemns the activities of land grabbers in Igbanko (Gbanko) community in Badagry Lagos State.


This was in relation to a report published by News Peddlers on Wednesday, where the residents of Gbanko community crys out for government intervention as suspected Iworo people invaded the community with military men.


A claim the king of Iworo land, Oba Olu-Kosoko, has dinied.

Speaking on the matter, Mr. Akonasu GBEDOZIN, the coordinator of Youth Development Initiative Nigeria and a member of PLACE Network, said that the issue of land grabbing is a human rights violation that should be condemned by all.


"The use of land grabbers who are criminal elements to settle land disputes is a condemnable act that should not be encouraged.


"Parties in a land dispute are advised to seek redress through legal instruments of the state," Akonasu said.


PLACE Network advises all parties in the dispute to shun violence and embrace peace because violence can lead to the creation of vulnerable situations for children and women.
