The Nigerian Army of the 15 Fild Engineering Regiment has paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State School of Basic Education and Advanced Studies (LASUSBAS).

The Army visited the campus on Monday in Badagry, Lagos State.

Lieutenant Col. SL Lawan, the commanding officer, 15 Field Engineering Regiment Badagry, said the visit was to synergize and further strengthen the existing relationship between the Army and the school, as they are only a few metres away from each other.

Prof. Yunus Dauda, the director LASUSBAS, who extended the pleasantries of Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the vice chancellor of Lagos State University, Ojo, said, he is not surprised that the Nigerian army has officers with intimidating credentials. "We recognise your magnanimity, humility, and simplicity to having recognised us. Because we believe that the way we look at the army as people with special positions, we feel elated for having you here."

"I also want to say that we welcome the other gallant officers that are here with you. We feel secure when we see the defence people that surround us here. On one side, we have the Nigerian Army, and on the other side, we have the Nigerian Navy. I always feel secure whenever I'm here. We had a cordial relationship with the previous commandant, and we assure you of our corporation." Dauda said.

The further said "I recognise the public relations officers on social contact of the Nigerian army, they are always very nice people, despite the fact that people think they are not friendly people, but they are easy-going and friendly with people. We hope that this relationship will extend to a comfortable end, as you can also enrol your child in our school."

He added, that the school will soon commence courses on defence and security, which is an avenue for interested officers to acquire more knowledge.

Col. Lawan added that, the cantonment will invite the management of LASUSBAS to their subsequent social and sporting activities, as this will further strengthen the relationship between the school and the Army.
