Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the commissioner for youth and sports and the pioneer RAK Development Foundation, has said the youth should embrace agriculture to help Nigeria's economy.
The commissioner disclosed this on Sunday at the presentation of palliatives to the people of Badagry held at Ibereko, Badagry, Lagos State.
Ogunlende said, "We are able youths, and there's a lot of things we can do to help the nation, For example, a lot of us can go into farming, and while a lot of us are looking for white collar jobs, I will encourage you to look for alternatives as there are various types of farming. This will go a long way towards improving the current situation in the country."
He stated that as this year's, Ramadan is about to start. "A bag of rice that was N25,000 is now N75,000, Indomitable, that was N2,000 is over N4,000. How do we balance it, and not that salary is going up. On the other hand, people are hungry."
He further said "A lot of things have been spoiled, but I believe in our president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that the renewed hope he promised will come to pass. It's not only about the renew hope, but everyone doing what they have to do and also encouraging those who have the capacity to do it."
He said he doesn't work under pressure and will not succumb to pressure from anyone, as what he did was basically at his discretion.
Gbowe Gabriel, the coordinator NYCN Badagry Federation, said, "this is a dividend of good youth, We believe that at this trying time everyone is trying to survive, and if we can have two or three people like him in the Badagry Federation trying to reach out to the people, I believe that we will continue to have a sense of belonging as far as democracy is concerned."
Muritala Gafar, the All Progressives Congress APC, chairman Badagry Local Government, applauded the kind gestures of the commissioner, adding that if every well-to-do Nigerians could remember the need, society will become a better place.
