Hon. Abubakar Mobolaji Ogunlende, the commissioner of youth and sports has donated a wheelchair to aid the movement of a physically challenged person, Mr. Rasheed Kayode Jubril. In commemoration of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Momodu Afolabi Asafa, the Aladi Onijanikin of Ijanikin Kingdom's 50th Coronation Anniversary.
The vow to donate the wheelchair came during his speech at a symposium hosted by the Ijanikin Youth Association in honour of the monarch on the theme: A better tomorrow; unlocking youth potential for good change.
He stated that the gesture was done in accordance with State administrative policy and THEMES.
In his words, the gesture was made based on with the State administrative policy and Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu's THEMES PLUS Agenda in order to keep everyone on track.
"Citing the entrance of the young man into the hall moved me to announce the gesture; I believe it can be better for him inspite of his present condition", he said.
Taking a cue from leaders who have made a significant impact in their lives by working hard to improve society, he emphasised that youths in Ijanikin can engage meaningfully and be relevant.
He believes it is important to express the government's commitment to empowering youth for a better future.
"I am using this opportunity to call on all youth across the length and breadth of Lagos State to key into the programme of the State by being informed and fully engaged positively so that their expectations can be met", he added.
He urged youths and all members of the public to utilise opportunities, assuring them of the government's continuous assistance in Lagos State.
Oba Momodu Afolabi Asafa, the Aladi Onijanikin of Onijanikin kingdom, presented the wheelchair on behalf of Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende (RAK) shortly after the Church thanksgiving ceremony for the coronation anniversary at his Palace.
