Mr. Onilude Olusegun Adeniran, Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, presented bursaries to 200 Badagry students in various Higher institutions across Nigeria on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023 at the council premises.

While speaking at the bursary presentation to students, the chairman stated that the gesture is part of his administration's commitment to supporting the dreams of prospective higher education seekers.

"The lucky candidates who met the requirements of the bursary committee that I formed a few weeks ago were the beneficiaries here." I examined the list and applauded the screening committee for their thoroughness in picking this crop of awardees. We recognise the discrepancy in school costs.

"The beneficiaries here were the lucky candidates who met the requirements of the bursary committee that was constituted by me some weeks ago. I saw the list and I commend the screening committee for the thorough job they have done in selecting this crop of beneficiaries. We understand the disparity in school fees of each discipline and that is why we are paying engineering, law, and medicine students ₦50,000 each while students of another discipline will be paid ₦20,000 each."

The Chairman went on to say that his administration has prioritised education over the previous six years and that he will continue to promote education in the greatest way possible.

Mrs Sewede Pot Balogun, the Supervisor of Education, stated that the students must use the bursary wisely and continue to be good ambassadors of Badagry, while also thanking the Chairman for relieving the financial burden on the beneficiaries and their parents or guardians, especially during this time of subsidy removal.
