The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that materials for Saturday's election rerun in six Zamfara local government areas have been distributed.
Saidu Ahmad, its resident electoral commissioner in Zamfara, stated this at a stakeholders meeting on Thursday in Gusau.
He stated that the election was for the Zamfara Central senatorial district and two House of Representatives seats for the federal constituencies of Gusau/Tsafe and Gummi/Bukkuyum.
Mr Ahmad stated that the senatorial election would be rerun in the local government areas of Gusau, Maru, Bungudu, Gummi, Tsafe, and Bukkuyum.
The election would be held in 90 polling units across 24 registration areas across six local government areas, according to the electoral commissioner.
According to him, there are 95,332 registered voters in the 90 polling units, of which 90,900 have received their Permanent Voter Cards.
Mr Ahmad urged politicians and the media to encourage voters to turn out and vote on time in order to complete the process on time.
According to the Zamfara electoral commissioner, security agencies have assured INEC that they will provide the necessary protection for voters to exercise their franchise peacefully.
