The Zamfara police command says its operatives have rescued nine people who were kidnapped on April 11 from Kucheri in the Tsafe council area.

The victims, seven females and two males, were rescued on Thursday, according to the command's spokesman, CSP Muhammad Shehu, in Gusau.

"The victims were rescued as a result of credible information obtained from a good Samaritan, which the Police used and successfully rescued the victims in good health," said the police officer.

"The victims were medically examined at the police clinic in Gusau, debriefed by police detectives, and then reunited with their families," Mr Shehu added.

He assured the public that the command would continue its offensive against bandits and other criminal elements in Zamfara.
