Bola Tinubu |
Bola Tinubu, the incoming president of Nigeria, arrived to Abuja on Monday after several weeks away. His aides stated that after exhausting campaigns, he went on vacation.
His homecoming precede the May 29 handover date, when he is scheduled to take office as Nigeria's next president for the following four years.
His campaign spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, had earlier in the day asserted Mr. Tinubu's imminent return.
“Nigeria’s President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns to Abuja today after weeks of a well deserved vacation in France. E kaabo! Se dada le de!,” said Mr Onanuga.
His sudden departure from the country prompted questions and raised eyebrows in public places, leading some to speculate that he may have left clandestinely for health reasons.
It wasn't until doubts about Mr. Tinubu's travels began to surface that his media team issued a statement claiming that the politician had travelled to Paris, France and the United Kingdom to relax and prepare for his inauguration.
Along with his wife, Senator Oluremi, Mr. Tinubu travelled back to the nation. They were welcomed by Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect, other senior APC officials, and cheering fans.
