Gunmen kidnap a trader in Osun

The Osun Police Command confirmed on Saturday that gunmen abducted a trader who was travelling with her goods along the Ikirin-Osogbo Road in the early hours of Friday.

Yemisi Opalola, the command's spokesperson, confirmed the incident to journalists.

She stated that the victim (a female trader) was travelling from Ilorin to Ile-Ife in Osun when her vehicle was ambushed by the kidnappers.

Ms Opalola stated that the vehicle driver escaped from the kidnappers and reported the incident to the Iragbiji police station.

She stated that as soon as the incident was reported, a police team was dispatched to the scene and was later joined by local hunters to search the area for the victim.

According to reports, this is the first case of local hunters in Osun since January.
