The National University Commission, NUC, has granted Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State, full accreditation status for nine academic programmes.

Prof. Noah Yusuf, Vice Chancellor, confirmed this during a press conference in Ilorin on Friday.

Noah stated that the university had secured accreditation for 22 of its academic programmes in 2020 and 11 academic programmes in 2021, bringing the total number of approved programmes to 42.

English, Agriculture, Human Anatomy, Computer Science, Information System, Education Physics, Law, Biology, and Geology are among the courses presented for NUC accreditation in November/December 2022, according to him.

According to him, with the most recent excellent performance in NUC accreditation, the university now has "Full Accreditation" status for nearly all of its academic programmes.

"The standouts are the new programmes that have yet to mature for NUC accreditation."

“For most of the undergraduate programmes in the university, the full accreditation status is valid till another five years (2025 & 2027).

“Al-Hikmah University currently assumes the status of a university in which parents and wards can have full assurance and guarantee that any academic programmes of choice has been fully accredited.

“The current accreditation status of the university has provided additional selling point for the university as a foremost citadel for quality education with most and spiritual excellence,” he said.

Mr Yusuf thanked all of the institution's stakeholders for their consistent support of the current management, which has contributed significantly to the enormous success recorded in all spheres, including accreditation.

Mr Yusuf stated that the university will hold her first ever 'Endowment Fund' of N15 billion on Thursday, June 8, to coincide with the Founder's birthday.

However, the vice chancellor requested additional funding from the state and federal governments through agencies such as the TETFund and direct grants.

He stated that the government should compensate and assist private universities in the country at all levels because they assist the government in providing education to citizens.

Furthermore, he urged state governments to send their students to the university for relevant academic programmes such as Law, Cyber Security, Nursing, Geology, Computer Sciences, Information Systems, and Education.
