Reject my husband if he fails you: Tinubu's wife

Bola Tinubu and Oluremi Tinubu

Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu stated that the election should be about the ability to perform with God's fear, not religion.

Oluremi, the wife of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to 'drive out' her husband if he is elected president and fails to perform.

Mrs Tinubu, who currently represents Lagos Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, also urged Nigerians not to be preoccupied with the religious beliefs of whoever takes over the presidency.

"Leave religion aside; I am a Christian. Have you ever imagined that a Christian-Christian candidate would emerge one day? What would be the starting point?

"We tried the Muslim-Christian ticket; let us try this one, and if they don't do well after four years, you can drive them out," she said on Tuesday in Owerri, Imo.

Mr Tinubu, a former Lagos governor, is one of eighteen candidates running in the presidential election on February 25.

He would be competing for the seat with Mr Th. Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Peter Obi (LP), and Rabi'u Kwankwaso (NNPP).

Mrs Tinubu said at a South-East women's rally for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign in Imo that the election next month should be about the ability to perform with the fear of God, not religion.

"When you have someone who fears God, not a Christian, Catholic, or Muslim, but a God-fearing person. When a man who fears God is in power, he will treat you right," she went on to say.

Assuring that women would make up a sizable proportion of her husband's administration, the wife of the APC presidential candidate urged women to continue rallying behind Mr Tinubu's candidature.

Mrs Tinubu also emphasised that the election was about renewing hope in a safe country through investment in entrepreneurship and human capital.

"For Nigeria, this is work time. We're not fooling around. Women, we will remember you, and I can assure you that Asiwaju will as well.

"So, Tinubu/Shettima have a big package for our youth. We will sit down and work with each region to meet their needs," she said.
