Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar |
Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has again attacked Atiku Abubakar, saying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate cannot become Nigeria's president.
"Atiku...will rather sell your birthright to the highest builders than build a better nation," Mr Tinubu said.
Mr Tinubu, speaking at an APC presidential campaign rally in Ondo, said if given the opportunity to rule, he would sell Nigeria to the highest bidder.
"Atiku (Abubakar) cannot do it, he doesn't want to build a better nation instead he will rather sell your birthright to the highest builders. Atiku's policies and actions are meaningless," he said at a rally in Akure on Saturday.
Messrs Tinubu and Abubakar will be on the ballot alongside other presidential candidates such as Peter Obi of the LP and Rabiu Kwakwanso of the NNPP next month.
The candidates are vying to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, who will complete his two-term, eight-year tenure on May 29.
Mr. Abubakar, on the other hand, has faced stiff internal opposition from his party since becoming the PDP's presidential candidate.
His election, as well as the selection of Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate, enraged some governors, including Nyesome Wike (Rivers).
Mr Wike, Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) are the G5 governors who have repeatedly stated that they will not support Mr Abubakar's candidature and have distanced themselves from his campaign.
