Bola Tinubu |
Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), says he is confident that Nigerians will vote for him in the upcoming election.
Mr Tinubu, who spoke in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, during his presidential campaign, added that he is confident he will win the election.
"Our rally (campaign) today, signals a new hope for Nigeria. I am confident that by February 25, you will have made an informed decision. You'd vote for me.
"I am certain you would vote for me. You'd vote for the APC. We would vote, and we would triumph. "Don't throw away your PVCs, and don't let them steal your vote," he advised.
Mr Tinubu, a former two-term governor of Lagos state, will compete in the next month's election alongside Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
The names of 18 presidential candidates for the February 25 election were released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last year.
Furthermore, the APC presidential candidate stated that the election was about capacity and the ability to fulfil electoral promises.
Mr Tinubu also attacked Messrs Abubakar and Obi, claiming that if either of them is elected president of Nigeria, they cannot be trusted with power.
"Atiku (Abubakar) can't do it because you can't give him power. Obi (Peter) is extremely frugal. He has the opportunity to save the people as governor of Anambra, but he prefers to save money," Mr Tinubu added.
He did, however, charge his supporters with continuing their "aggressive" campaigns in order to ensure the APC's victory in the general elections.
Earlier, Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo, stated that the people of the state would cast massive votes for Mr Tinubu in the February 25 election.
Governors Dapo Abiodun, Babatunde Sanwolu, and Abdullahi Ganduje of Ogun, Lagos, and Kano States, as well as ex-governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun and the immediate past governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, were among those who attended the campaign rally.
