PVC stands for Permanent Voters Card. |
As of December 31, 2022, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Edo office reported that 661,783 old and new Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, had yet to be collected in the state.
Timidi Wariowie, the head of Voter Education and Publicity at the Edo INEC office, stated this in its PVC daily report analysis, which was made available to journalists on Monday in Benin.
Mr Wariowei stated that 409,832 were old uncollected PVCs and 251,951 were new uncollected cards as of December 31, 2022.
"There were 425,239 old uncollected PVCs, but 15,407 had been collected, leaving a balance of 409,832.
"In addition, 289,931 new PVCs were received, but 37,980 had been collected, leaving a balance of 251,95," he said.
Mr Wariowei also revealed that on January 1, 460 PVCs were collected across the state's local government areas.
According to him, PVC collection continues to be a daily occurrence, including Saturdays and Sundays (excluding public holidays) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at INEC offices throughout the 18 LGAs.
