Goya Menor, a hype man and rapper, earlier in the week won the Headies Award for "Best Street Artiste," and controversial singer Portable criticized him for not being popular.
Remember how Portable, who was nominated in the same category, was eliminated after threatening to kill the other nominees if he didn't win?
Over the course of the week, Portable and Menor had been attacking one another on social media.
In contrast, Menor asserted in an interview with Saturday Beats that he was unaware of the singer and that he believed the name to be a rat poison. "Porta what?" he asked. "Is that the name of a poison for rats? In my entire life, I don't believe I have ever heard that name. As for the other artists in my category, shout out to them all, especially the ones who offered their congratulations."
When asked how it made him feel, the Menor responded, "I felt good. There was a lot of transparency, at least. Winning the Headies means a lot to me after less than a year in the music business."
The rapper responded in the affirmative when asked if it was appropriate for artists to use social media to voice their unhappiness about matters that bothered them. "It is called social media for this reason. Artists communicate with their fans there, just like other celebrities do."
"I was accepted 100 percent," he said when asked how he felt during his Headies performance. "I'd like to thank everyone who was in the room that day. The ovation I received when I was introduced as the winner in my category went above and beyond. I had a great time at Headies in Atlanta, United States of America."
Menor recently worked with Lade, the singer of "Adulthood Anthem," on his new song, "Grace." Menor claimed that the grace of God in his life served as the inspiration for the song. "I felt like thanking God for his grace toward me," he said. "I would say that a lot has actually happened with grace. Teni and I had planned to collaborate, but due to her busy schedule, we were unable to do so. That's why I went with Lade."
