Anglican primary school 1 Igborosun (Hungon), Badagry, Lagos state with over 1000 pupils is now totally dilapidated. With more than 100 students in a class.

"The teachers are suffering finding it difficult to cope," a parent said.

A parent who spoke with News Peddlers said "Sometimes they go to school 2 to borrow classroom for short teaching, as they are sent out most times by school 2 teachers because there is not enough classrooms for the school 2 pupils."

He further said both the local and State government has made "Promises upon promises measurement upon measurement. Nothing had been done to this problem."

Another Parent who also spoke with our reporter said "the school was supposed to be divided into three because of its population but it was politicised, which is the major thing that is affecting the development of Badagry"

"With the heavy rain falling Lately the teachers has not able to teach the students the students and the teachers will just be hanging around all through the day," he added.

Part of The building collapsed in 2008 where several pupils sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the general hospital, But no life was lost. This caught the attention of the Lagos state government at the time which made the government divide the school into two and the government built a structure for School 2. But school 1 that was affected was neglected.

Findings disclosed that the building was built by Lagos state governor at the time, Lateef Jakande in the early 1980s and rehabilitated through Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Fund, under the former Badagry Local government chairman Hon. Husitode Moses Dosu, AKA Oschoko in 2012. After part of it collapsed.

The school is currently serving about six communities in the area they are Igborosun(Hungon), Pota, Avia, Atinporome and Joton. Making it one of the most populated Schools in Badagry.

Further investigation in a visit to the school disclosed that the second five classroom building of school 1 was built but the colonial government, which is now very weak and may collapse in no time.

Looking at the recent series of building Collapse recorded in Lagos lately it's very important the Lagos State  government do the right thing, to avoid any tragic incident.
