 BY: News Peddlers

A Toyota Highlander SUV on Tuesday evening, killed a commercial motorcyclist an accident on the Lagos-Badagry expressway

According to reports, the motorcyclist was attempting to make a U-turn when he was crushed by a black SUV at Ibereko along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The collision happened around 5:30 p.m. near Smark Shopping Mail on the Badagry Expressway in Lagos.

According to a reliable source, the accident occurred when the vehicle driver, with registration number AAA 565 GD, rammed into the Okada rider who was crossing to connect the express road at high speed.

The accident was confirmed by Sulaiman Taiwo, Badagry Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

He stated that the driver of the SUV attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended at the Low-Cost bus stop in Badagry.

"The other Okada riders who apprehended him tried to mob him because he was trying to flee after crushing their colleague."

"They wanted to burn the vehicle and beat the driver, but one of my personnel, who spoke Hausa fluently, talked them down and they let him go to the police."

"They said they don't want the okada rider's remains transported to General Hospital in Badagry because his burial will be delayed."

"As a result, his body was returned to the Hausa community in Ibereko and buried according to Muslim rites," he explained.

Mr Taiwo urged motorists using the expressway to exercise caution.

He reminded them that the one lane under construction was for all road users.

"The commander cautions motorists and okada riders not to speed on the expressway."
