The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, left Nigeria on Saturday for London, the United Kingdom.
According to the PUNCH, Tinubu and Shettima decided to take a break to prepare for campaigns.
Tinubu and Shettima's visit to London coincided with that of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, who also visited London on Friday with his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom.
Campaigns for the presidential election will begin on September 28, according to the schedule released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
When contacted on Sunday, Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Media and Publicity for Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, confirmed to PUNCH that his principal had taken a break.
"He only took a week off for vacation," he explained.
He also stated that Tinubu's campaign could begin on October 8.
"Although the campaign will begin on October 8, we will begin on September 28 with a prayer in all APC branches nationwide."
"After dedicating the day to God, we will begin road construction in Abuja." "However, I am confident that the policy document will be ready by October 2," he said.
A Million-person march
Meanwhile, Tinubu's supporters, the City Boy Movement, and the National Coalition Group announced plans to launch his campaign with a one-million-man solidarity march.
Shehu Yahaya, the group's media sub-committee secretary, revealed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
The march, dubbed the 'One Million Man-March for Tinubu-Shettima Presidency: A Walk for Good Governance,' is scheduled for September 28.
"The solidarity march will kick off at the Unity Fountain Maitama, Abuja, with many party leaders, young All Progressives Congress stakeholders, and a host of celebrities gearing up to attend," according to the statement.
"The one million-man March is being organized to bring together all APC and Tinubu/Shettima support groups across the country for familiarization and preparation for the upcoming general elections." We believe that with the collective support of all groups, we will sail Tinubu-competent Shettima's candidature to the presidency in 2023."
Francis Shoga, Chairman of the APC National Coalition Group, also stated in a statement that the proposed one million-man march would unite all support groups for effective coordination ahead of the elections.
