Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) Badagry division paraded ceased petroleum products not less than 21,600 litres, which worth around N4million on Thursday.
The intelligent groups of NSCDC through credible intelligent information on Tuesday at about 11:45pm intercepted all these smuggled petrol at Yafin creeks in Badagry, Lagos state.
The Lagos state commandant of NSCDC E.O Eweka said, "today we are here as part of our statutory duty to make a parade of some recovery we just made through the anti-vandal and marine unite of Badagry, today we are parading 720 kegs 30 litres keg of petrol which was about to be smuggled to the Republic of Benin.
"This is a dastard act and we found it to be sabotage to the economy, these are petrol In which the government have paid lots of subsidies upon the petroleum products ceased today amount to 21600 litres of petrol of the value not less than 4million naira these are products people sabotage against the economy you can imagine economy is dwindling because of government subsidies, corrupt and ineptitude Stark actions of the citizens trying to sabotage the efforts of the federal government in other to make money on their personal evolution.
"We the NSCDC saddled with the responsibility of bringing in all these saboteurs to book we will not relent in our efforts to trap them down and put a stop to saboteurs of Nigeria as a nation.
"This has been a painstaking exercise for the past two weeks they have been mounting pressure to make sure they arrest these suspected saboteurs which were successfully on Tuesday 27th of September 2022.
"Each time we are about nabbing them, probably they have their intelligence they always escape but not risking us losing these products we to sweep on them as at that time there were no suspects, but I'm telling you credibly that our intelligence is working on those that left these things in the creeks.
"Between the next few days, we are going to nab them because we know their Identity, we are looking up to a place where we are going to catch them they are on the run but the long hand of the law will catch up on them.
The more they work and their labour is in vain they will be stopped. You can remember the other time the customs Service arrested some today it's the turn of the Civil Defence Corps.
"We are trying to put an end to the sabotage of Nigeria's economy we are working day and night. The more they see us on our regular duty they will be discouraged in losing their illegally gotten wealth.
"So I'm quite sure that it's a Matter of jiffy it's just a matter of time, arrest in Badagry has not been like this before they will be one way or the other deterred and anyone caught will face the court and will be sentenced.
"The people of Badagry are good but recently some unscrupulous elements among them are getting involved in criminality. I'm just telling you that what is happening is that the security is now working hand in hand to nip all their criminality act from the board.
"We are making all efforts to put an end to all this and be rest assured all these elements will be flushed out of Badagry and Badagry will remain calm they are only taking advantage of the proximity of the town to the nearest neighbour which is the Republic of Benin but we will not allow them to continue Putting sabotage to our economy.
"My message to the Badagrians and mostly Lagosians is that they are known to be good people but the few unscrupulous elements causing distractions engaging in criminality should not be encouraged. Credible information should be given to the security agent and mostly the civil Defence corp and we will act on this information and we will put them away from society.
"I always say when you see something say something don't be aloof, don't be encouraging evil. The economy of the country can't carry evil anymore we should be patriotic and do what is right as far as the economy is concerned.
"My Officers have a cordial relationship with the people of Badagry, we have our credible intelligence working in Badagry under the able leadership of CSC Rasheed Akinyemi he has a very good robust relationship with them."
