Terrorists stormed Birnin-Gwari Local Council in Kaduna State, killing three people, injuring others, and fleeing with 13.

The armed bandits, the number of whom is unknown, rode on motorcycles for about an hour in Damari town of Kazage Ward in Birnin-Gwari, shooting sporadically. The deceased were identified as Hashimu Dan-Daura, Nazifi Adamu, and Alhaji Dangude.

According to the Guardian, the invaders struck on Monday and returned the next day around 6:00pm to loot shops, with no resistance from security forces.

Ishaq Kassai, Chairman of Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU), stated that residents continued to flee the community for safety following a series of attacks.

At the time of filing this report, neither the state government nor the police had responded, as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mohammed Jalige, could not be reached for comment.

Similarly, gunmen kidnapped 12 people in Niger State's Shadadi community, Mariga Local Council. Married women and children are among the victims.

The incident exacerbated the suffering of innocent Nigerians and residents, particularly those in communities bordering Zamfara and Kaduna states, at the hands of bandits.

Danlami Shadadi, a resident, confirmed to The Guardian on Thursday night that bandits stormed the community with sophisticated weapons around 1:00am on Monday, July 2, 2022, and abducted the victims.

Abbas Garba, Chairman of the Mariga Local Council, also revealed that his administration had recruited local hunters to storm the forest and rescue the victims.

Meanwhile, the police have promised to investigate the attack, even though the command has yet to confirm it, according to Commissioner of Police Monday Kuryas.

Another development is the arrest of a notorious bandit, Bashir Abdullahi, from the Bangi community of Mariga, who would kill his victims after collecting ransom. Kuryas described Abdullahi as a notorious bandit and criminal informant.

FOURTEEN DAYS after their kidnapping, former Bauchi State Governor Adamu Mua'zu's family members have been released.

SP Ahmed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed to reporters that the victims had all been released and taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) for medical attention. According to police and family sources, no ransom was paid before their release.

On July 13, 2022, the bandits assassinated 25-year-old Mua'zu Danladi and kidnapped Hajiya Asma'u (the former governor's sister),  Malama Halima Abdullahi, and Nura.

A family member stated that they had been released and thanked God for his intervention.

"After 14 traumatic days in captivity, the Almighty Allah, who is the creator of the world, the miracle worker, and the light in the darkness, has once again answered the numerous prayers of the faithful and granted them freedom from their captors," the source said.

According to relatives, the victims have begun necessary medical examinations and trauma therapy in the hospital following a negotiated release.
