INSECURITY: Buhari is lazy and uncaring Commander-in-Chief - ex-NHRC Chairman

BY: News Peddlers

President Muhammadu Buhari has been called a "lazy and uncaring Commander-in-Chief" by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, a former head of Nigeria's National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The human rights lawyer revealed this yesterday when discussing the level of insecurity on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily program.

He chastised him for leaving the country shortly after Guard Brigade soldiers had been ambushed and killed by terrorists in Abuja.

More frustrating, according to Odinkalu, is that the President left an unstable country behind to speak about security in Liberia. He refuted the claim that state governors are equally to blame for the nation's security issues by stating that: "Security cannot be outsourced to the state, all the security services have to be provided by the federal government.

"When it comes to the police, the army, the navy, the SSS, the NIA, the Directorate of Military Intelligence, and the National Security Adviser, everything reports to one person." The President is not only Commander-in-Chief; he is also the operational head of all of these agencies, to whom they report.

"A president present will limit the security damage." Our current crisis is tragic in that President Buhari is neither present nor capable of providing leadership. Worse, he doesn't seem to care."

The lawyer also warned that elections in many parts of Nigeria may not take place in 2023 unless something is done immediately to address insecurity.
