Hundreds of passengers travelling on Abuja-Kaduna train has been
stranded for hours, after the train developed a technical fault.
In a Daily Trust report, the train had developed fault twice
few minutes after the journey commence. The train finally breakdown in Dutse.
leaving the passengers in a state of confusion and helplessness.

The Assistant National Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists
(NUJ), Midat Joseph a passenger on the train, said.
“I left house as early
as 5:00am to join the 6:40am train but unfortunately I have been trapped here in
the forest." Joseph said “this is not the first time I will be experiencing
this mess.”
Other passengers shared their experience along the route.
One of them said he had similar experience on Saturday, spending
close to six hours before getting to Kaduna.
“This is unfortunate. On Saturday, we spent from Abuja to Kaduna.”
He said “we left Abuja 6:00pm but we didn’t get to Kaduna until 11:00pm.”
The passengers were later conveyed to their destination, by another train.
In the address of an NRC engineer to the passengers, he apologised
for the unfortunate situation.
“We are very sorry, the locomotive is faulty, we have contacted
the Idu Train Station for another locomotive." The engineer said “it would
take them two hours to he here.”
