Public servant in Taraba state,have reacted to the
non-implementation of the new national minimum wage of 30,000 by going on
strike.
The indefinite industrial action started since march 2021,when employees decided to go on a long break pending on when their needs would be attended to.
The chairman of Taraba state Joint Public Service
Negotiating Council, SIPSNC Mr. Dame
Musa Buhari stated that, he salute the patience, courage and continuous support
of the strike action embarked upon; we therefore say no to the Flimsy reasons
advanced by government through some selected Spokesperson for the
non-implementation of the new minimum wage of N30,000 and it's consequential
adjustment in the state".He said .
The chairman SIPSNC, said "COVID-19 is not the reason,
and will never be the reason. The only reason is the RECKLESS and WASTAGES in
management the state resources by the state government."
"If we may ask, can the state government tell tarabians
what it did with about N82.3 billion
naira obtained in the last quarter in 2019
and N81.2 billion obtained in the first quarter of 2020 " He added
Further more, he said " with the above loan can it be
justifiable for the state government to continue to service some contract
projects in the state with over N700 million monthly from the monthly
allocation?"
"Taraba state government should not hide under COVID-19
to deprive workers from enjoying their constitutional rights of the new
national minimum wage."
Mr Dame Musa,Concluded by saying " Tarabans should stop
hailing government for doing nothing in the state.
