The school management of Taraba State University, Jalingo
(TSU) have made it compulsory that teachers attendance are taking in class as a
prove they are doing their job.
This was seen in a circular signed by the Deputy vice-chancellor (Academic) of the University, Prof. Baker's and distributed to all academic staff on Wednesday, 7th April.
The circular was a response to the nonchalant act of the University
lectures towards attending classes, where most lecturers of the institution
don't go to classes to lecture and a majority of the lecturers haven't started
their lecturer which is affected the standard of education in the institution.
It further mate it Mandatory, that the Deans of every
faculty should take attendance of every lecturer in the lecture hall and report
after two days to the office of the Deputy vice-chancellor of the university. The
first report should reach the DVC (academic’s ) on the 9th of April
2021.
This has caused various brouhaha on social media, between staffs and students that are in support and those that at in position of the decision.
