DPO Folajimi Agosile Leads Cross-Agency Rally Across 50 Communities, Urges Residents: "See Something, Say Something" as Security is Heightened in Riverine Areas.

The Badagry Police Division, under the command of CSP Folajimi Agosile, with the support of Hon. Babatunde Hunpe the Executive chairman Badagry Local Government has staged a major security awareness rally to directly address viral social media rumours of an impending bandit attack on the historic coastal region.

The large-scale exercise, held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, swept across the entirety of Badagry Local Government Area in Lagos State, Nigeria, aimed to both calm public nerves and issue a stern warning to potential criminals ahead of the festive season.

"You should discard all information that has been circulating on social media that bandits are coming to Badagry," Agosile stated, while striking a careful balance.

"Despite that these information are not true, we still need to be security conscious. Everyone is needed to achieve a safe Badagry." He reinforced the community-policing mantra, urging, "When you see something, you say something. If you suspect movement, please inform the security operatives or the community leaders."

The DPO also laid down clear law enforcement directives for the upcoming holidays, announcing a zero-tolerance policy towards certain activities. "This festive season, knockout (banga) is not allowed in Badagry. Street jerms are not allowed, and courtism is frowned at by security operatives," he said.

These prohibitions target substance abuse, unauthorized gatherings, and unruly behaviour, respectively, signaling a clampdown on traditional triggers of seasonal violence and crime.

The rally transcended a simple police parade, evolving into a formidable show of inter-agency force. Which brought together over 1,000 security personnel.

The coalition included representatives from the Military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Hunters, local Zangas, Vigilante groups, the Forest Surveillance System, and Neighborhood Watch teams. This unprecedented assembly underscored a unified front to secure the sprawling border locality.

With strategic focus, the massive security convoy extended its sensitization campaign across more than 50 communities within Badagry. Particular importance is being placed on riverine communities, highlighting an intent to secure all possible entry and exit points.
