LAGOS, Nigeria – In a move to tackle housing deficits and uplift urban living, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to officially commission 420 new housing units at the Lagos State Housing Estate in Ajara, Badagry

The event, scheduled for Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, underscores the state government's sustained commitment to delivering affordable and modern housing solutions to its burgeoning population.

The newly completed Ajara Phase 1 estate, a flagship project developed by the Lagos State Government, is projected to provide comfortable accommodation for over 2,000 residents. This strategic injection of modern housing units is a critical component of the state's master plan to increase the supply of quality homes across its various divisions, ensuring that growth and development are evenly distributed beyond the metropolitan core of Lagos.

Detailing the composition of the estate, the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, revealed that the development features a thoughtful mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments. This diverse range is intentionally designed to cater to the needs of different income brackets and family sizes, from young professionals to established families.

Akinderu-Fatai emphasized that the Ajara project is a direct result of the state's focused initiative to complete existing housing schemes, transforming them from blueprints into tangible assets for the people.

Beyond providing shelter, the commissioner highlighted the project's significant socio-economic impact, noting that the construction phase already created numerous economic opportunities for local artisans, suppliers, and service providers within the Badagry area.

As the estate becomes occupied, this economic vibrancy is expected to continue. In a crucial advisory to the public, Akinderu-Fatai strongly warned prospective homeowners to deal exclusively with the Ministry's authorized channels, stating that it does not operate through third-party agents. All verified information and transactions, he confirmed, must be handled directly with the Ministry’s Estate Department located at Block 3, The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
