BADAGRY, LAGOS – In a move aimed at stimulating local economies and alleviating hardship, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr. Setonji S. David, has announced a massive empowerment programme for over 1,000 residents of Badagry Constituency II.
The initiative, slated for Saturday, 11th October 2025, underscores the lawmaker’s deep-seated commitment to grassroots development and inclusive growth.
The life-impacting event is scheduled to take place at the prestigious Nigerian French Language Village in Ajara, Badagry, commencing at 11:00 AM.
The venue is expected to be filled with a diverse cross-section of beneficiaries, including petty traders, aspiring entrepreneurs, youths, aged citizens, and other vulnerable groups who have been carefully selected from across the constituency to ensure the support reaches those most in need.
At the core of the programme is the distribution of essential business support tools and equipment designed to foster self-reliance. The items for distribution include grinding machines, hair dryers, generator sets, and modern barbing equipment. Complementing these tangible tools will be direct cash empowerment grants, providing immediate relief and seed capital for recipients to either kick-start or bolster their small-scale business ventures.
Emphasizing the humanitarian rather than political nature of the gesture, Hon. Setonji David stated, “This is not political; it is about uplifting people at critical points of need. Over 1,000 persons will benefit, ranging from the young to the elderly, the petty traders to small entrepreneurs.
We are committed to making life easier and creating opportunities for our people.” This sentiment was echoed by his media officer, who confirmed the program aligns with the broader national "Renewed Hope Agenda" focused on citizen empowerment.
