As Nigeria prepares to mark a significant milestone its 65th year of independence the Society for Human Advancement and Creativity Organisation (SHACO) is set to host a landmark national summit designed to rekindle the flame of patriotism.
Under the powerful theme, “Be Patriotic,” the event is poised to gather over 400 participants, including 100 top executives, youth leaders, and civil society representatives. This summit is more than a celebration; it’s a strategic convening aimed at translating national pride into actionable steps for unity and development, fostering a collective spirit as the nation reflects on its journey.
The event will hold at Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) Topo-Badagry, Lagos. On Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The core mission of the Nigeria 65th Independence Day Summit is to inspire a profound appreciation for the sacrifices of the nation’s founding heroes while empowering the current generation to become active architects of Nigeria’s future.
Amb. Mark Akande, Founder and President of SHACO, emphasizes that the event is a crucial platform to educate and motivate citizens, particularly the youth, to embrace patriotic values. The agenda is built on key pillars: honouring the past, fostering intergenerational dialogue, and bridging divides across Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and religious landscapes to build a more cohesive nation.
Attendees can expect a dynamic agenda featuring influential voices and immersive experiences. The keynote address, “Be Patriotic,” will be delivered by the renowned Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, President of Women Arise for Change Initiative and a recipient of the prestigious U.S.
Woman of Courage Award. Adding a critical youth perspective, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, will speak on “The Role of Youth in Nation Building.” A unique highlight includes educational tours to profound historical sites in Badagry, such as the Slave Relics Museum and the Point of Return, offering a tangible connection to Nigeria’s history.
Beyond speeches, the summit is designed for interaction and practical outcomes. Engaging panel discussions will bring together government officials, union leaders, and youth groups to tackle pressing issues like the role of workers in national development, women’s empowerment as a pillar of nationhood, and harnessing youth innovation for growth. The event will also feature a special documentary on Nigeria’s independence, ensuring a rich, multi-sensory experience that educates and inspires all participants, who will receive certificates of participation.
SHACO now extends a call to action to organisations and patriotic individuals across Nigeria to register their delegates for this transformative event.
