Beneficiary and Mr Hundeton Benjamin- Chairman, Association of fashion designers ( Tailors) Seme Branch

Mr. Brose Timothy Semasa, the Chairman of the Oglogbo Community Development Association (CDA), has purchased and presented training forms for five selected youth fashion designers from Ward E in Badagry West LCDA. Lagos State

The initiative, which took place on Thursday, September 4, 2025, aims to equip these young artisans with specialized skills in tie-dye (Adire) fabric design, enhancing their existing expertise in fashion and tailoring.

Unlike previous efforts limited solely to Oglogbo, this program extends its reach to include talented youths from neighboring communities within the ward. The two-day training, organized by Team Jaye’s Foundation in collaboration with Adire-by-Keji, is scheduled for September 12–13, 2025, at the Whlakoh Community Town Hall in Badagry Local Government. The focus on Adire design aligns with growing cultural and economic interests in traditional Nigerian textiles.

A key feature of this initiative is its targeted approach. Mr. Semasa specifically selected trained fashion designers and tailors as beneficiaries to ensure the sustainability and practical application of the skills acquired. By building on their existing knowledge of fabrics and clothing, the program aims to integrate Adire techniques directly into their professional work, avoiding the common pitfall of abandoned skills often seen in generic vocational programs.

The presentation of the training forms was held at the Baale’s Palace in Oglogbo Community, attended by dignitaries including Chief Bokoh Jacob Yenawa (Baale of Oglogbo), community leaders, and Mr. Hundeton Benjamin, Chairman of the Tailors Association of Nigeria (Seme Branch). The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude and pledged to utilize the training to elevate their craft and contribute positively to the local economy.

Mr. Benjamin praised the chairman’s innovative approach, noting that this is the first time a CDA chairman in Badagry West has directly sponsored artisans for specialized vocational training. He emphasized the economic ripple effects of such initiatives, including job creation, skill diversification, and community development. The program highlights the importance of vocational training in fostering financial independence, career advancement, and sustainable community growth.

Through this effort, Mr. Brose Timothy Semasa, who also serves as the Financial Secretary of the CDC Badagry West, reinforces his commitment to nurturing a generation of skilled, self-reliant, and productive youth. The initiative stands as a model for community-driven development and underscores the value of patronizing locally made products to build a self-sustaining Badagry West economy.
