The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a sharp critique against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), labeling its official recognition of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a "hollow victory."

While formally congratulating the ADC, the APC alleges the party's emergence was marred by "undemocratic, underhanded tactics," claiming INEC has merely "placed a legal stamp on a house built on sand."

In a statement by its spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, the ruling party issued a direct warning to the ADC to avoid "premature campaigns" for the 2027 general elections, which it views as an act of "desperation and disregard for law and order."

The APC contrasted its own focus on building infrastructure and economic reforms with what it calls the ADC's tendency to build "excuses," issue press statements, and thrive on "empty noise."

Despite its criticisms, the APC stated that the recognition allows the ADC to build a structure based on "transparency and principles." The party challenged the ADC to evolve into a credible opposition that offers "realistic policy alternatives" instead of "bitter rhetoric."

The statement concluded by advising the ADC to channel its energy into "issue-based politics, constructive engagement, and adherence to the rules of the game" as the political landscape evolves.
