 By: Manoah Kikekon

Badagry, Lagos – In a move to advocate for youth development, a delegation from the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Badagry Federation met with the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, to discuss pressing youth-related issues.

The meeting, held on Friday at the council secretariat, focused on inclusion, engagement, and collaboration to drive sustainable development in Badagry.

The NYCN team was led by Aladeotan David, Vice-Chairman of NYCN Lagos West, alongside Prince Gboweh Gabriel (NYCN Badagry Chapter), Sodiq Balogun (NYCN Olorunda), and Joseph Agbomenu (NYCN Badagry West).

During the engagement, the youth leaders congratulated Hon. Hunpe on his election victory and emphasized the need for active youth participation in governance. Aladeotan expressed optimism, while talking to News Peddlers stating, “With feedback and responses, we are convinced that Hon. Babatunde Hunpe’s administration will leave a lasting legacy for Badagry youth with our collective support.”

Gboweh Gabriel, outlined key expectations from the chairman, including the creation of a dedicated youth desk at the Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), mobility support, and youth-focused appointments.

He acknowledged the chairman’s initial steps, saying, “The first four nominations have considered youths, but we urge more engagement and patience as the administration adopts an open-door policy.”

Gboweh stressed that prioritizing youth welfare would significantly improve Badagry’s socio-economic growth.

Sodiq Balogun, revealed that the chairman made several commitments, which we will be  looking forward to see in due time.

“Hon. Hunpe promised a youth-centric administration, and we believe he will deliver because he has shown genuine interest in youth development,” Balogun stated.

He further highlighted that such initiatives are already benefiting youths in other LGAs where leaders prioritize youth welfare.
